We have just had a Western 8 Ft. snowplow with unimount and handheld controls on this 2003 Chevrolet 2500 HD with a 8.1 Litre V8 Powerhouse. This is the only gas model truck GM sells with a ALLISON TRANMISSION!!  The Allison 1000 is rated to handle up to 620 lb·ft (841 N·m) of torque. 1000 Series brings superior performance of electronic controls from 6 to 11.8 tonne vehicle GVW. The engine and transmission communicate by a powerful microprocessor providing precise, perfectly timed shifts whatever the road or load conditions. Standard features include lock-up operation in second to fifth range and helical gearing for reduced transmission noise. 

At 8.1 liters, the GM Vortec is the biggest gas Truck/RV engine made.  Its larger size combined with advanced engineering features give you the best in Big Block performance.

The engine produces peak horsepower and torque at lower RPMs and maintains a flatter torque curve.  This gives you more power faster and longer.  So you can climb hills, take the lead on busy on-ramps and comfortably pass a line of trucks with confidence.
